First Day in Port Jefferson

Riis had her first day back in Port Jefferson.
We started our day with a 3 generation, 7 mile run, through Old Field. We ran out to the lighthouse and back. We ended at West Meadow beach and dipped Riis' feet in the Long Island sound. Mema and Mommy promised we would take Riis back to the sand bar to play at some point this week.

After that we hung around the house with Opa, Aunt Amanda, Grandma Lois, Gracie Lue, and Mema. We had a nice time. Gracie Lue is a very jealous puppy and cried more than Riis :)

Next stop was down town Port Jefferson to walk around town and visit Oma at work. Soooo many people to visit who love Riis. We hung out at the park and walked around eating ice cream, just like the tourists.

We went for dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's where Riis had a 3 course meal of sweet potatoes, green beans, and rice cereal. She was a hungry hippo and ate a ton!

A fun filled day with family, nothing better! Mommy and Riis will sleep well tonight!

June 20, 2011 A Day in Greenport

What a wonderful, fun filled day we had today!
We woke up and tried sweet potatoes for the first time, a big hit! Riis likes them way better than green beans. Grandma and Grandpa let Riis play with her food when she was done eating and Mommy spent the whole day finding food in Riis' little nooks and crannies, totally worth it!

We went to Greenport for the day. Grandpa and Mommy went on a Kayak ride while Riis and Grandma went for a stroll. We met back up at the dock for a picnic lunch. Riis hung out on the blanket and crawled around. We all walked through town afterward and ate ice cream (not Riis.)

We went to Aunt Jeannie and Nancy's for dinner. Riis swam in the pool with Zoe and Desha and went in the trampoline, soooo fun!

The day ended with more sweet potatoes. These ones Grandpa made for us. Riis loved them! She even ate a bunch of green beans. What a good little girl!

Here are some pics of our day:

6.19 Happy Fathers Day

Father's Day in NY

Day 1 of our trip
Today was a great Father's Day! Riis started her day by skyping with her daddy who is still in HI. Grandpa fed her breakfast and we spent the rest of the day hanging with our family. Enjoy some pics and video.

6 Months

Riis is 6 months and 1 day today.

I brought her to summer school for the day and she loved it! She crawled from one end of the blanket to the other and all of the kids loved her. She loved all of the attention and big smiles from her new friends. She stayed with me from 7:30-12:30pm and was so great!

We went to the doctor for Riis' check up today. She is 16lbs 10 oz, 27 1/4in. long. She had to get to shots. She cried for 3 seconds for the first shot and 3 seconds for the second shot. By the time I picked her up off of the table she was smiling at the nurse saying, "I still love you!" What a happy wonderful baby girl :)

We were given the go ahead for big girl food. I steamed string beans and blended them tonight.Tom took a video as I fed Riis. She did not love the new taste, but did her best to finish the bowl. In 5 days we try sweet potatoes!!!!
On the move...

June 11, 2011 A Pool Day

We had our first really good experience at a pool yesterday.
Mary Kate left us the keys to her new house at Ko Olina and we had a little "staycation."
We brought a float for Riis, some burgers, and drinks.
Riis loved the pool! Her daddy made her laugh by blowing bubbles underwater and mommy kept slathering on the 50 SPF. What a great day!

Almost 6 months

It has been a long time since I was able to get back to the blog.
Little Miss Riis keeps me on my toes.
She is rolling over and over and over.
She is up on her knees rocking back and forth really fast,
days away from crawling.
She is sitting up on her own for long amounts of time.
She is able to escape from from her Bumbo.

Summer is treating us well.
We have a kiddie pool where Mommy and Riis play in the water.
Riis has been spending quality time with her Aunties while I am at summer school from 8-12.

These are videos we took this month. The first is Riis in her bouncer. She loves this thing! The second is of her laughing at Tine bouncing a ball at Kate's shower.
