Here is what Riis is eating now:
"Chicken Casserole:" organic chicken, carrots, potatoes
"Mommy's Bean Dip:" eggplant, onion, ginger, chickpeas
Purple sweet potato: Riis LOVES!
"Zucchini Mash-Up:" zucchini, quinoa, onion, sweet peas (Riis loves, but does not freeze that well)
Banana-Apple-Cinnamon
Organic fruit/veg baggies (great for on the go)
"yum-yums" organic cherrios type snacks
Poi!!! Riis tried poi when we went out to eat with Renee, Adam, and Ashton. Renee told me how Ashton loved and so we gave it to Riis. Riis LOVED it! Poi is a Hawaiian food. It is mashed up taro root.
Papaya: We have a few papaya trees on the side of our house and one has a bunch of fruit right now. I cut up about 1/2 cup of papaya and she ate the whole thing and wanted more. Riis loves the papaya.
Lilikoi: We have a lush lilikoi vine running along our back fence. Lilikoi is also known as passion fruit. It is very tart and has small seeds that you eat because the fruit is around it. I fed this to Riis who did not even mind the sourness. I noticed a small rash around her temples, so I stopped feeding it to her. I will try again in a few weeks to see if she still has the same reaction.
Rice Cereal: It is full of iron and was all Riis ate from 4-6 months (besides "mommy milk) I add some rice cereal and breast milk to some of Riis' food when it is not mixing well, or I feel she needs more iron.
Riis is a good eater. She does not over eat and is happy with whatever we give her. I make her food 3-4 times a week and freeze them in ice cube trays. I give her 4-5 ice cubes each meal. I use 2 containers and combined the different cubes to form new flavors. She is getting really great with textures and does not have a hard time with them.
